2023 RAM 1500 The current Ram 1500 came out in 2019 as part of the fifth generation of pickup trucks. Entering its fifth year of model sales, the Ram is gearing up to come out with a fresher model.
An all-electric Ram Evolution variant is expected to arrive for the 2024 model year.
The Ram 1500 has one of the more premium designs in the full-size pickup truck class. We’re not sure what exterior changes the Ram will make for the 2023 model year, but we do expect updated exterior lighting, a changed grille design, and a few bumper updates.
As a pickup truck, there’s only so much an automaker can do to make it look completely different. We hope the 2023 model will continue to be available with lots of chrome and have smooth body lines with a premium feel.
While the Ram 1500 was one of the first pickup trucks to have a luxury cabin, others in the segment have followed suit.
We expect the 2023 model year to arrive with a more sophisticated look, higher quality materials, and higher trim that further push the truck into luxury territory.
We expect it to stay largely the same for the lower trim, which should continue to have great analog controls and rugged materials.
Against newer rivals, the 1500s tech features aren’t as impressive as they once were. The current model comes standard with a five-inch touchscreen, six audio speakers, and Bluetooth.
Available technology features include an 8.4-inch touchscreen, 12-inch touchscreen, navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging pad, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
Ram offers the current 1500 with four different powertrains. A 3.6-liter V6 engine is standard, while a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6, a 5.7-liter V8, and a 6.2-liter V8 engine are available. Power ranges from 305 horsepower up to 702 hp.
All engines come with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
We don’t expect these engines to change, beyond some minor upgrades at the most. We could see Ram bolster the 1500’s capabilities, as the current truck is rated to tow up to 12,750 pounds and haul up to 2,300 pounds. These figures trail rivals.
We expect the 2023 Ram 1500 to arrive with more standard safety features. A rearview camera is the only noteworthy standard feature on the current model.
Available features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, park assist, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
2023 RAM 1500 Review
2023 Dodge RAM 1500 The 2023 Ram 1500 will continue to battle full-size pickup rivals such as the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and Toyota Tundra with a tantalizing mix of performance, efficiency, comfort, and luxury.
That’s right: In range-topping trims like the Longhorn and Limited, the interiors of these Ram trucks can embarrass the overall design and materials found in many vehicles with fancy badges on their grilles.
If off-roading matters more than luxury, the Ram Rebel trim packs take-anywhere hardware like a 2-inch lift, upgraded shocks, front and rear tow latches, and a locking differential.
Look to the Ram 2023 lineup for more package options, special editions, and updated color and trim options for the exterior and interior of this workhorse truck.
While it’s an open secret, a fully electrified version of the Ram 1500 is in development, that model will likely arrive for the 2024 or 2025 model years. When it arrives, the electric Ram will face competition from the Ford F-150 Lightning, and electric versions from the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC.
Sierra – not to mention entry-level models, including the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T.
The 2023 Ram 1500’s powertrain lineup includes a 3.6-liter V6 equipped with a fuel-efficient mild hybrid system, a 5.7-liter V8 offered with and without this mild-hybrid technology, a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6, and an outrageous 6.2-liter supercharged V8.
This last engine is reserved for the TRX model and sends 707 horsepower to all four wheels. Performance in the TRX is outstanding for a vehicle of this weight and size. No matter which engine is chosen, each is equipped with an enhanced 8-speed automatic transmission.
With two cabin size options, three cargo bed lengths, and endless package options, the Ram 1500 is highly customizable, just like competing models from Ford, GMC, and Chevy.
While not quite up to the main towing and payload limits of major rivals, the Ram is renowned for a smoother ride, thanks to the standard rear coil spring suspension, or the optional air suspension that looks more like a magic carpet.

2023 RAM 1500 Redesign
The regular upgrade program since the Ram was last redesigned for the 2019 model year has no doubt contributed to this high rating.
For example, several special edition models have come and gone over the last few years, and Ram is introducing the high-performance Ram 1500 TRX off-road model for the 2021 model year. But the list of updates goes longer than that.

2023 RAM 1500 Changes
In the previous year, Ram expanded the range of ways buyers could get a half tonne pickup with upgrades to the new lineup including a sporty G/T package for the Laramie and Rebel, the rugged BackCountry Edition, and a more luxurious version of the Limited known as the 10th Anniversary Edition.
The G/T package edition is highlighted by its cold air intake, unique exhaust system, paddle shifters, and console-mounted shifters whereas the BackCountry Edition package is basically an off-road-oriented package for the value-minded Big Horn and Lone Star models.

2023 RAM 1500 Refresh
The Ram 1500 is more talented than most half-ton trucks because it’s much better with the addition of style.
The entry-level model isn’t clad in fancy materials and the high-end features of the most expensive trim while still maintaining ease of ride thanks to a more sophisticated suspension that can be made more comfortable with air spring available.
The Ram 1500 also boasts a large 12.0-inch touchscreen featuring a compartment that attaches to the cargo bed and a collapsible tailgate.
Its engine list operates via a smooth automatic transmission and includes a 395-hp Hemi V-8 with or without hybrid assistance as well as an eco-friendly six-cylinder diesel engine with 480 pound-feet of torque.
The strongest configuration can also tow 12,750 pounds which won’t match anything but a truck.

2023 RAM 1500 Price
We expect the Ram 2023 1500 to start at around $36,000 for the base truck. It will be a Tradesman trim with Quad Cab, a 6-foot-4-inch cargo bed, and in rear-wheel-drive format.
This is a work truck, plain and simple, but equipped with a reasonable number of standard features.
Most Ram buyers will upgrade to at least the Big Horn or Laramie trim, which starts at around $39,000 or $47,000 and provide a lot more in terms of standard and available comfort, safety, and technology features.
The upper limit of the regular Ram 1500 lineup is occupied by the Limited, which should continue to have an asking price of around $60,000.
While that’s a lot of money, it’s still over $10,000 less than what you’d pay for the 707-hp TRX Ram.
Depending on how big the refresh is, the price for the 2023 Ram 1500 should be higher than the current model. Pick-up currently ranges from $37,695 to $78,575 (by destination).
2023 RAM 1500 Release Date
We’re not sure when the Ram will come out with 2023 1500. Our best guess is fall 2022.
