The New 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV Review

0

2023 Jeep Trackhawk back in 2018, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) held a Captial Markets Day event where it informed its investors of the planned direction of its global brand portfolio over the next five years (until 2023).

While some plans have changed, Jeep detailed its strategy for the Trackhawk nameplate. Jeep lists Trackhawk as a brand statement about “ultimate road performance” and will continue Jeep’s brand message of “segment-leading capability”.

As such, any performance variant of the Jeep brand can utilize the Trackhawk nameplate.

Even so, with the recent “dissolution” of the SRT division, it seems that the SRT name will continue on Dodge vehicles only as the top performance trim level.

This means that the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) could produce a 6.4-liter 392 cubic-inch HEMI V8 with a Trackhawk nameplate similar to the 2021 Dodge Durango SRT392.

Our sources indicate there are still a few more years of Hellcat power left under the Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brands.

We don’t expect HEMIs to die anytime soon, but instead, incorporate more fuel-efficient technologies to allow them to continue to meet federally mandated emissions requirements.

So, will the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk make it? Most likely!

2023 Jeep Trackhawk Review

The Grand Cherokee is already the best-selling SUV Jeep offers and the Trackhawk trim expands on the base Grand Cherokee to provide substance and practicality in equal measure.

2023 Jeep Trackhawk

The Trackhawk Grand Cherokee is a special model that combines off-road capability with the comfort and usability of a traditional highway cruiser. The 2-row Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is built at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, Michigan.

The first Trackhawk Review was made by Jeep in 2018 and has been one of the most popular models ever since.

Take the whole family for a ride with the addition of a third row and extra legroom with more cabin space than most competing SUVs like the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander.

You can expect many features from the standard Grand Cherokee L to transfer over including the addition of a screen in the front for shotgun passengers.

Trackhawk Design

But what will the next generation Grand Cherokee Trackhawk look like? A certain digital artist on Instagram believes he has the answer.

Giving the fifth generation a low-slung profile, ildar_project gives the new Grand Cherokee a more menacing look despite its more square appearance.

Based on the Overland trim, this Trackhawk design adds a large front chin spoiler, large 6-piston Brembo brakes, lower side sills, a Durango-style performance hood with scoop, 20-inch forged Alcoa wheels from the 2019 Dodge Challenger R/T 1320 dirt package.

Looking at the rear, there are two different rear spoilers, one large one around the rear window and the other just below it serves as a wicker bill spoiler.

Of course, the Trackhawk’s design features four large exhaust outlets that exit the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle is finished with Redline strips similar to those offered on the Dodge Durango SRT392 and the 2021 SRT Hellcat.

Trackhawk Interior

Inside, the custom SUV flaunts a red lighting package to illuminate the Black Leather and Suede ambiance and can also transform into a Rolls-Royce impersonator thanks to the plush shooting star headliner.

That’s not all, as highlights also include things like two-tone Gloss Red/Black badging, a lowered suspension setup, or a special RS Trackhawk bird emblem on the side.

Unfortunately, the RS Edition is just a cosmetic makeover project, and its power specs remain the same at 707 horsepower.

At least, that’s still enough to send the SUV behemoth to 100 kph in just 3.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 190 mph (306 kph).

Jeep Trackhawk Engine

Expect this powerful 2023 Trackhawk trim to feature the same 707-horsepower Hellcat V-8 engine used in many Hellcats! This incredibly powerful engine under the hood is more than enough to tackle anything that comes your way, whether you’re traversing rocky roads or cleaning up on the highway.

While all Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs are rugged and capable vehicles, the 2023 Trackhawk looks to be something truly special.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV 0-60 And Quarter Mile Times

Powering the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV is a 3.6-liter V6 that produces 707 hp @ 6000 rpm and 645 lb.-ft. @4800rpm. It is mated to an 8-Speed Automatic.

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk SUV takes 6.7 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill and – seconds for the quarter mile.

New Jeep Trackhawk Color

With its focus on the EV revolution, Stellantis seems unaware that ‘independent’ exotic manufacturer Ferrari has wrested the title of the world’s most powerful SUV from its Dodge brand.

That means the return of the Durango SRT Hellcat for the 2023 model year is muted. And believe it or not, this might be a boon for the large group of Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk fans who are openly or secretly angry at Dodge for usurping the honor.

Now that another 725 ps (715 hp) hero is lurking, everyone is free to pursue their high-performance SUV dreams.

And for those who love the decommissioned previous generation Grand Cherokee, the good folks at Atlanta, Georgia-based Road Show International have another unique treat “for the culture” that may or may not be up for grabs.

This Jeep Trackhawk looks pretty clean from a distance, but one would quickly realize that looks can be deceiving.

First of all, we are dealing with a Trackhawk from the famous RS Edition variant, which can usually take a variety of forms.

The latest one is (mostly) dressed in Satin White Pearl thanks to a comprehensive dressing but it also comes with a series of contrasting ideas thanks to a red/black stripe package, red brake calipers, or Forgiato Designs 24-inch, powder-coated wheels in Gloss Black.
